FCC Amateur Radio Examinations
Amateur Radio licensing exams are given by teams of Volunteer Examiners (VE). Teams operate under the authority of an FCC accredited Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) organization. Each VE team makes arrangements for and publishes its testing schedule.
Below are regularly scheduled testing sessions in the Austin area. For exam sessions in other areas, visit http://www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/search and search by City/State or zip code with the search radius (miles).
An applicant must have an FCC Registration Number (FRN) available at fcc.gov , present two forms of ID and pay ~$15 fee per exam session. One of the IDs must be issued by a governmental authority and show a photo.
For youth under 18, ARRL makes some fee reimbursement available. See the ARRL website for details
